The Plan!

"What is the use of running if we are not on the right road?" - German Proverb

I hope you had a wonderful weekend. I was reading a book to my youngest son and it was one of those Berenstain Bear books. This one was about the family forgetting their manners so mama bear writes up a plan to help them remember their manners, or they get to do chores. This is just another great example of putting a plan in action and seeing results. The book topic got me thinking about the power of plans.
I like presenting plans for two reasons. First, it requires me to think through a plan and put it down in written format. Second, it gives me a forum to present a plan and get constructive feedback on where it works and where it may need some fine tuning. As difficult as these detailed plans are to put together, without a written plan, I would be driving at night without the headlights on. It's not if you are going to crash but when and how many times. You've heard of my five 'C's, here are five 'P's :

"A Proper Plan Prevents Poor Performance"

But anyone can develop a good plan. Part II of that exercise is to execute on it. That requires understanding and teamwork. A plan is also something that cannot be stuck in a drawer after it's created. It must be reviewed, modified, and tweaked as progress is made and unknown obstacles come up. So where are you with your plan - in business, in school, in a relationship, in life?
